Hello my Name is Christina. I am a mother of two going through college. This blog is like my diary into my life as a working mom and student. I have two beautiful sons. One of them is five and one of them is six months old. Writing is the way I deal with the stress of school. I enjoy writing whenever I have some free time. I hope that if you’re also a mom in college or just a student also dealing with stress that I can help you out.
Motherhood and college!
The hardest thing about being a mom and going through college is finding time to study. I have a six month old and a four year old who constantly need my attention.
When Do I Study?
I study when my six month old sleeps. Once he goes down for a nap or for the night that’s usually when I will study and do my notes.
The hardest thing sometimes is finding motivation for studying. I want to be with my kids during the day and my significant other at night. However, I know that I need to find time for school work as well.
How is the Semester So Far?
So far it has been a challenge as meaning that my classes are hard. I’m taking pharmacology and that class requires a lot of study time and practice.
My Major
When I graduated high school in 2012, I felt lost in the world. I didn’t know what I wanted to do or if I wanted to even go to college. I honestly did NOT take it seriously. I failed countless classes and not I am currently trying to raise my GPA while I am going through my general education classes. So with that being said once I graduated high school I just wanted to do a quick program such as a Certified Nursing Program(CNA) or a Medical Assisting Program(MA). However, my parents wanted me to do something else as they didn’t make that much. Originally my major was nursing than I changed it to Business Administration and messed around in my classes. I than got pregnant at age 21. I ended up stopping my classes and focusing on my child. After he was born I decided I’ll give College another try and than found my passion was in nursing.
Why Nursing?
- Science and anything medical related just made sense to me as opposed to finance.
- I also realized I love helping people and helping them get well again.
What type of Nursing do I wish to end up in?
The type of nursing I wish to make a career out of would either me a Pediatric Nurse and work in a Children’s Hospital or to become an L&D Nurser (Labor & Delivery).
